Art Chat: Artists meet the first and third Thursdays of each month at 10:15 a.m. at the Tuckerton Seaport Hunting Shanty for encouragement, news and support. Bring old or new works for discussion and your coffee and treats. This is not a work session.

Painting Workshop: Solace Art Studio in Surf City offers a 3-day workshop designed for painters who want to push their artistic abilities to the next level using alternative mediums, brushes, palette knives and techniques to explore new directions. Teen Arts: Students from Southern Regional, Pinelands Regional and Barnegat high schools as well as the Ocean County Vocational Technical School will be showcased in the 40th annual Ocean County Teen Arts Festival at the Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts Gallery through April 7. Admission to the gallery is free, and it is open whenever the Ocean County College main campus in Toms River is in session.

LBIF: Noyes Arts Garage artists will exhibit at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies through April 3.

New Noyes: The Noyes Museum of Art has launched its new headquarters at Stockton University’s Kramer Hall in Hammonton. “Raw 2017: Photography” is a juried exhibition of 19 talented tri-state photographers on display in the gallery.

Artist opportunity: Apply by April 7 to participate in the Paint Hammonton Plein Air event on May 6.

A panel discussion featuring Professor of Art Wendel White; Christina Jackson, Ph.D., of Stockton University; and photographer Glynnis Reed, discussing her exhibition “That Shadow My Likeness,” will be held on Sunday, March 26, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Noyes Garage in Atlantic City.

Artist Guild: Artist Thomas Rutledge has opened his West Creek studio to students. Drawing class on Mondays in April from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday evenings, 5 to 7 p.m. Call 609-290-1039 to register.

PSAA: Pine Shores Art Association exhibits the works of the late Connie Purves as a memorial during the month of March. Purves was a talented photographer and artist who gave much of her time and talent to advance PSAA as a local artists’ space.

PSAA and the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library host an art history lecture, “The Art of Photography,” with Professor Kate Nearpass Ogden at 7 p.m. on March 27 in the library.

A bus trip to the Frick Collection in New York City to see the exhibit “Turner’s Modern and Ancient Ports: Passages through Time” is planned for Wednesday, April 19. Call the gallery for information.

PSAA offers workshops to all artists in collage, watercolor, gouache, tempera, oil and pastels at its Manahawkin gallery. Ongoing pastel workshops with Linda Coulter continue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in the gallery. The fee is $20 per session; bring your own materials.

Ongoing portrait sessions are open to all artists for a nominal model fee, Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m., and Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. On Thursday is life drawing (undraped model), from 7 to 9 p.m. On Tuesday, 4 to 6 p.m., is Artists Helping Artists; drop in with your supplies for some friendly assistance. Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is “do your own thing”; artists meet and create their own work.

Artists who have taken a class in 2016-2017 may exhibit in the PSAA Student Show. Receiving is on March 29 from 10 a.m. to noon.

In the Libraries: A reception for Tuckerton artist and world traveler Jill DeFelice is March 23 at 6 p.m. at the Little Egg Harbor branch of the Ocean County library on Mathistown Road. Her work is on display through March.

A reception for the group exhibit at the Stafford branch is March 27 at 6 p.m. Artists Carol Neugebauer, Danny Ng, Chuck Sulkowski, Olga Choulindina, Mike Lipton and Casey Bell show their work through April.

The eighth annual Amergael Celebrate Irish Arts exhibit with the theme of “Shore to Shore,” focusing on Irish immigration and U.S. symbols related to immigration, is at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City for the month of March. —P.J.
