Barnegat Schools Website Launches a New Look
The Barnegat School District kicked off the New Year by introducing parents and students to a new look for its website (barnegatschools.com).
“Last year the Barnegat School District began the upgrade for a new website,” said district Superintendent Karen Wood. “A survey was sent to parents asking questions like which links they wanted on the homepage and what information they accessed on a regular basis. We also asked for feedback from staff and created a committee of teachers, secretaries, administrators and a member of the board so that all stakeholders had input into the template of the new website.”
Wood said that although the district is still learning to navigate the functionality of the site, the new look is clean, streamlined and uncluttered.
“Each school’s site reflects their school mascot and school colors,” said the superintendent. “We worked collaboratively to develop and maintain templates and design elements and the feedback we are receiving is very good. In addition, the new site costs the district less than the old site because the new site is hosted by School Messenger, who also provides our district messaging service to our families.”
The new site features district news updates, contact information for the board of education office, listings of upcoming events, curriculum and instruction updates, sports highlights, employee opportunities and a parents portal where a child’s academic information can be viewed.
“I think we have made it easier for people to navigate,” said Scott Sarno, board of education president. “This should help us get more information out to the public and parents.” —E.E.
