United States Tiger Foundation holds an April 28 ceremony and lays wreaths in Barnegat Light with USCG Station Barnegat Light in memory of some 900 U.S. soldiers who perished in the April 1944 military disaster of Exercise Tiger, a night training mission in the English Channel in preparation for D-Day. The operation was essentially a national secret for nearly 40 years before advocates gained due recognition in the 1980s.
