Dart for Art at Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences
Put your tennis shoes on for the second annual Dart for Art fundraising event at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, Saturday, August 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Over 70 works have been donated by local artists and artisans: paintings, watercolors, prints, drawings, photographs, ceramics, jewelry and fiber arts for this worthy fundraiser. Some of the artists whose names you might recognize are Susan Barnes, Carol Freas, Lisa Budd, Janet Nelson, Ann Coen and Richard Jeffries. A family portrait by photographer Dana Otto is another prize. All the artists have been invited to be on hand to talk with their patrons.
Tickets of $100 per individual, $150 per couple, entitle the holder to “dart” for one piece of donated artwork.
The way the evening works is: as people arrive at the Foundation, they will be assigned to a group of three. Then an auction is held to be the first to enter the gallery and choose a piece of art, the second and so on. Only three people Dart for Art in the gallery at one time.
It’s a fun evening of art, wine and hors d’oeuvres with catering by the Oasis Grill.
In addition there are two raffles for a fresh water pearl necklace and a basket of fine wines.
The artwork is going on display in the Blai gallery starting this Wednesday and ticket holders are encouraged to stop in and view the works to decide what they might like to make a run for.
Don’t have a ticket yet? The Foundation has extended the deadline to allow for admission at the door. –P.J.
