Motorists will have noticed by now that East Bay Avenue in Stafford Township is closed in the area between Morris Boulevard and Marsha Drive while a culvert, a drainage tunnel beneath the roadway, is replaced near Heron Drive.

Construction is expected to last four to seven weeks, due to be finishing up right around the Thanksgiving holiday. Ocean County Engineering is doing the work. Traffic leaving Long Beach Island and bound for East Bay Avenue is advised to use the Marsha Drive jughandle.

The hungry masses yearning to eat seafood should fear not. Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House and neighboring Mud City Crab House are accessible from Marsha Drive. Eddin Ice and Tony’s Bait and Tackle are accessible by traveling east and turning around near Chapman’s Marina. Use the turnoff by Mallard Island Yacht Club, keeping in mind also to exit by the yacht club.  —V.F.
