Sue Puder, president of the South Jersey Birding Group, will present a slide show featuring birds and other wildlife on Thursday, July 18, at 2 p.m. at the Beach Haven Public Library. Puder said the 40-minute program is based on photos from her book, New Jersey Birds and Beyond, along with other photos taken after the book was published.

“The state’s position along the Atlantic flyway provides the opportunity to see a great variety of species at different times of the year,” she said. “It is a natural haven for not just birds, but mammals, amphibians and reptiles.”

The book features more than 350 color images, covering approximately 180 different bird species, along with native flora and fauna.

The slide show also features background music.

“It’s mostly easy listening and classical,” Puder said. “I play ‘Blackbird’ by the Beatles, and Aaron Copland’s ‘Appalachian Spring.’”

Following the presentation, she will sell and sign copies of the book. —E.E.
