Last Lighthouse Night Climb for the Summer on Aug. 27
The Friends of the Barnegat Lighthouse hold their final summer night climb of the year on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park in Barnegat Light. Charlotte Banks, friends president, said attendees are urged to come early since the lighthouse closes at 9.
“Only a certain amount of people can climb at one time,” she said.
In addition, the event will feature a concert by the Basement Musicians Guild, who will perform in the new gazebo in the picnic area by the inlet. Since seating is limited, attendees are asked to bring their own chair or blanket.
“They play a variety of fun music, a lot of country and oldies,” said Banks of the guild. “Last time we had them, people of all ages were dancing.”
Admission to the climb and concert is free, but donations are accepted.
The friends’ final event for the year is a night climb and campfire on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
