Little Egg Harbor Grants 2 Percent Raises for Town Hall Workers, Department Leaders
The Little Egg Harbor Township Committee approved two contracts with municipal workers during an Aug. 11 executive session. The committee adopted a resolution memorandum of agreement with AFSCME Local 71 to institute 2 percent raises for the department heads through Dec. 31, 2018, excluding 2015, when there was no raise.
The committee also adopted a resolution and memorandum of agreement with the Government Workers Union retroactive to Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2019, with a 2 percent increase each year. The contract eliminates two holidays, the day after Thanksgiving and Lincoln’s birthday, but increases the meal allowance from $12 to $15.
Also during executive session, the committee hired Donna Stansfield as Deputy/Assistant Tax Collector for $39,000 a year, effective May 1, 2016.
The next township committee meeting is Thursday, Sept. 8, 7:30 p.m. at Frog Pond Elementary School on Frog Pond Road, rather than in the Town Hall/Justice Complex. The meeting is being moved to accommodate a large crowd expected to hear the second half of the committee’s independent attorney’s report, in which Police Chief Richard Buzby is topic. Buzby has the option to have his hearing in public, or he may choose for a private executive session.
The committee is also holding a public hearing on a proposed $3.3 million bond ordinance for a variety of capital projects.
