Neglected Seniors

Aug 31, 2016

To the Editor:

Here we go again. Seniors are just not getting their fair share.

1. We lost our home rebate in New Jersey.

2. There was no increase in Social Security this year.

3. There is no easy access to beaches on Long Beach Island.

We have owned a home on Long Beach Island for over 20 years. We were always able to go to the beach. Yet now, as seniors, we are neglected, forgotten and abandoned. This summer the dunes were so high that any attempt to climb them was harmful to our health.

How come we seniors were passed up? We have been the backbone of LBI.

Do not tell me the old familiar response: LBI did not have the money. Hogwash! Wooden access fences, railings and paths should be installed.

We lost the whole summer not being able to enjoy the beach.

Sherry, you need to check with your township. Some, such as LBT, have a service that will take you from your home to your spot right in the beach and back again.
