The first step is to choose one or more photographs of your pet from your collection that I can use to paint or draw your original work of art. I do not create an exact reproduction of the photo, but rather use it as reference to create an artistic expression of your pet. Sometimes more than one photo is necessary to get the right color of fur or feathers so don’t be too concerned with whether you have a perfect photo.
Another part of the process is to decide whether you want just a head and shoulders of your pet against a neutral background or the entire animal in some habitat: the backyard, the sofa, woods or along the shore.
The following price list does not include framing and add 7 % New Jersey sales tax plus handling and shipping if needed. Additional pets or people in the same painting are extra and negotiable depending on choice of medium.

I studied portrait painting with John Murray at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and James Woodend at Jane Laws Art Studio on LBI. Although I love to paint people and children in particular, painting pets has been my primary focus. Over the eight years I’ve run my pet portrait business I have painted almost all the dog and cat breeds. I’ve also painted bunnies, iguanas, parrots and even a greenhead fly! One of my clients entrusted his favorite Guild guitar to me to paint a portrait of his dearly departed golden retriever.
I am a member of the Pine Shore Arts Association and the PSAA plein air painters, the Hammonton Arts Center. I also have my work on file with the AKC American Museum of the Dog.
I’ve exhibited in the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville and Hammonton, the Hammonton Arts Center, Pine Shores Art Association Gallery, Jane Law’s Gallery and Art Studio, the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts and Sciences in Loveladies and the Hammonton Arts Center. My work is shown at Gallery 1603 in Surf City on Long Beach Island.
I’ve recently opened a co-op art gallery “The Lakeside Art Galley” in the Tuckerton Emporium, 2 East Main Street, Tuckerton where I show my other work in oils, pastel and tempera resist.
My lifelong love of art is also why I am the fine arts editor for The Sandpaper newsmagazine centered on Long Beach Island.
I look forward to working with you in portraying your living pet or memorializing the image of your beloved deceased family pet.
