Plight of the ‘Chosen’
To the Editor:
I have owned a house on LBI for 20 years and was thrilled to learn that our coastline was being replenished.
My street was chosen as the beach access point for the work that needed to be done. Needless to say, all summer long my beach and block were grotesque, with all the equipment, tremendous pipe storage and sounds of huge trucks grinding back and forth throughout the day.
My heart went out for the renters on our block who spent bucket loads of money to enjoy LBI. I sincerely wonder if they will ever revisit this Island.
In the meantime, I think the people who live on these “chosen” streets need to be compensated. Tax break?
Maybe the next time the special people who get to decide which streets to muck up should choose their own thoroughfares.
