Ship Bottom Seeks Community Development Block Grant Funding for Park Work
Ship Bottom is applying for $16,000 in Ocean County Community Development Block Grant funds for continuing improvements to the park on West Fourth Street.
Mayor William Huelsenbeck said the work includes lengthening the handicap-accessible walkway to the gazebo.
“We used grant money to start work on expanding the area,” he said. “We did what we could; now we’re applying so that we can get enough funds to finish the work.”
The mayor said the facility is mostly “a passive park.”
“It has an area for fishing and crabbing,” said Huelsenbeck. “The gazebo is a nice place to sit and watch the sunset.” —E.E.
