Business Notes

Summer 2017: We’re Ready

By MARIA SCANDALE | May 03, 2017

The beach season is popping with preparation. Here are two news notes of interest to the business community, friends and even restaurant patrons.

The Gables Servers Graduate

Customer Service Course

The Protocol School of New Jersey conducted a customer service training seminar at The Gables Historic Inn & Restaurant in Beach Haven. The training was presented to the serving staff at The Gables on Monday, May 1, in anticipation of the season.

The Protocol School of New Jersey is partnering with Ocean County College Business Engagement to conduct customer service training to retail businesses and restaurants throughout the spring.

Maria Joyce, executive director of the school, wrote, “Most impressed by your initiative and the enthusiasm and dedication of your staff,” in a note to The Gables Manager/Marketing Director Sandy Levy Goldsborough after the session.

The Gables owners hope to schedule a second session soon for other “front of the house” staff and front desk staff who were not yet available.

Summer Kick-Off Party

Set By Southern Ocean Chamber

There’s a revved-up feeling at every Summer Kick-Off Party of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, as business friends get together under one roof before the busy season really springs.

This year the date for the Get Acquainted Summer Kick-Off Party is Wednesday, May 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., and the place is Panzone’s Pizza & Pasta at 1106 North Bay Ave. in Beach Haven.

All businesspeople and their staff are welcome to attend to mingle with each other, meet new associates and get acquainted with members of the chamber.

This Southern Ocean Chamber tradition dates back to the 1920s, said Lori Pepenella, chief executive officer with the chamber.

It has been “a time to gather the business community for light conversation and delicious food before the busy summer season begins,” she said.

The event will feature food stations of Italian and local specialties, and live music performed by Sahara Moon as well as a cash bar of selected beers and wines.

Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by calling 609-494-7211.
