Thursday Is Jersey Fresh Day in Barnegat Township
Every Thursday through Oct. 27, the Barnegat Recreation Department and Barnegat-Waretown Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a Jersey Fresh Farm Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind the downtown gazebo park on Route 9.
Jean Broadbent, recreation director, said vendors would be featuring fresh produce, fruits, nuts, baked goods, ethnic foods and coffees among various gourmet specialty items.
She said vendors pay a flat fee of $75 to register for the season, and then $25 per week. Proceeds benefit recreation department programs.
“We’ve had very good turnouts over the years, even on days when it has rained,” said Broadbent. “We have vendors who have been with us over the years and some new ones. People in Barnegat won’t have to travel too far to find farm fresh produce and other goods.”
A special farm market will also be set up on Pirate’s Day, Sept. 10.
