Time to Get Started on Ship Bottom Christmas Parade Floats
Even though the month says October, Ship Bottom says it is time for people to begin working on their floats for the borough’s Christmas Parade scheduled Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Shell of a Christmas.”
“We really want to encourage businesses, organizations and families to design and build their homemade floats,” said Kathleen Wells, borough clerk.
She said there is no fee for entering a float or participating in the parade, but entrants need to register.
The procession steps off from the Ethel Jacobsen School at Fifth Street and Barnegat Avenue. The parade route runs through Ship Bottom on Long Beach Boulevard to 25th Street. Parade line-up time is 10:30 a.m. for floats and 11:30 a.m. for all other participants. The viewing stand will be located in front of the borough hall at 16th Street and Long Beach Boulevard.
Various sponsorships are available to help pay for the bands in the parade. For more information, log on to shipbottom.org or call Wells at 609-494-2171, extension 116. —E.E.
