Too Expensive

Mar 15, 2017

To the Editor:

I went to bring my dogs to the dog park in Barnegat Light. I was told that since I was not a borough resident I had to pay $30 for each dog. To me that was a high fee since I only use the dog park in winter and never in summer – it is too hot. I would be happy to pay $5 for one admission.

First, I do not take my dog to ANY dog park. I just don't trust that ALL dogs have been vaccinated and that ALL owners will control their dog. I do like that the township is doing something to address the vaccination issue and I realize that they need to collect some money to offset costs but I think the charge is excessive.  It almost appears as if the township wants to dissuade non-township residents from using the park and keep the dog park to itself. Good for residents.  Bad for Island guests and other Island township residents.
