The Tuckerton Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its first Open House and Fire Safety event on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sparky the Firedog will welcome children to sit on the fire trucks, ring the bell and try on some pretty big turnout gear.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuckerton Police Officer Justin Cherry will give a K-9 demonstration, and at 7 p.m. the fire department volunteers will demonstrate a car extrication using the Jaws of Life.

A Fire Prevention trailer from Community Medical Center and a display from Atlantic City Electric will be in the parking lot.

Parking is available in the Methodist church/Tuckerton lot across from the irehouse on North Green Street. —P.J.
