To the Editor:
Thank you to the many businesses, organizations and individuals who gave so generously of their time and resources to make the Missy Keeler benefit a success. Missy Keeler is the daughter of Bob Keeler, former mayor of Beach Haven, and his wife, Debbie. In July, she was involved in a serious automobile accident and will require months of rehabilitation to return to normal functioning.
On Sept. 7, this community turned out by the hundreds to attend a benefit silent auction at Buckalew’s Restaurant in Beach Haven. They were anything but “silent” when it came to bidding, and the event raised nearly $40,000. There were numerous donations of tickets, vacation accommodations, paintings, gift certificates for meals and services, sailboat excursions, baskets of cheer and too many other wonderful donations to mention here.
Donations are still being received at “Buck’s,” made out to “New Jersey Maritime Museum-Keeler.” The museum has been generous enough to offer its tax-deductible 501C3 status.
The Missy Keeler Benefit Committee did a wonderful job, and members are to be thanked individually and collectively for their efforts. The whole event could not have happened without the generosity of this remarkable group. Thank you!
A special mention needs to be made of Jay Cranmer, Allan Menegus and the dedicated staff of servers at Buckalew’s Restaurant. They were tireless in their efforts to ensure a successful evening. Thank you! And finally, thank you to all who came out to support the Keeler family. Events like this do not just happen. Thank you!
