Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery at Liquid Bliss Studio in October

Sep 28, 2016

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in a show of support for the annual campaign and for those fighting the disease within the community, Liquid Bliss Yoga in Harvey Cedars is partnering with Blooming Lotus Cancer Recovery Yoga to offer a four-week session of modified yoga practice designed for cancer recovery. The group meets at 11 a.m. every Wednesday beginning Oct. 5.

“Numerous studies have documented the positive impact of modified yoga on those who are battling cancer,” a Liquid Bliss press release explains. “Students show reduced blood pressure, depression and anxiety, as well as better hormonal balance, stress management and an overall improvement in the quality of life.”

Half of all men and one third of all women will develop cancer during their lifetime, the studio explains. “Treatments depend on the stage and type of cancer, but can include surgery, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radiation, or biologics – each with their own set of side effects such as exhaustion, chills, sores, nausea and depression.

“If you are currently suffering from cancer, please join Liquid Bliss Yoga and Blooming Lotus Cancer Recovery Yoga this October. … Created by Christina Stoltz, breast cancer survivor, we will explore restorative and chair yoga, meditation and pranayama.”

Classes are $15 each or $60 for the full session – Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26 – and a portion of the proceeds will benefit David’s Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation.

Liquid Bliss Yoga is located at 7806B Long Beach Blvd.
