	        It was an afternoon at Buckalew’s when Mike McCarthy’s middleneck clams were slipped steaming onto the barside tables and disappeared, consumed, as quickly as they had arrived. The patrons that day could swivel in their chairs and learn where the clams came from – McCarthy is the second-generation harvester of this shellfish that is now aquacultured, grown from tiny seed clams in the bay off Beach Haven.

    <title>Army Corps to Begin Restoring Beaches in Surf City, Harvey Cedars and Brant Beach Later This Month</title>

	        Later this month, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor will begin restoring the beaches on Long Beach Island previously constructed as part of the Coastal Storm Damage Reduction project – namely, Surf City, Harvey Cedars and a mile stretch of the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township.
The entire project is scheduled to be complete by the end of October 2013.
