School News Roundup: Club Hosts 1974 Olympic Rower

Pam Golding, a member of the U.S. rowing team in the 1974 Montreal Olympics, was the featured guest at the Southern Regional Intergenerational Council’s recent version of the Olympic Games. The event included friendly competitions among the council’s student and adult members.

Golding discussed her Olympic experiences and council members had an opportunity to watch videos, explore memorabilia and participate in a question and answer session.

Parents and their favorite princesses and princes are invited to a tea party with your sponsored by Southern Regional FCCLA on Feb. 10 in the 11/12 cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games, stories, crafts, food and friends. Kids can come dressed up in their favorite princess or prince costume. The annual Southern Regional Fishing Flea Market is Feb. The event, with over 100 tables of new and used fishing gear, will be held in the Southern Regional Middle School cafeteria from 8 a.m. to 2 .pm. 

In addition, informational seminars will be given by experts at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. There will be raffles each half hour with prizes including party boat gift certificates and sportfishing charts.

Southern Regional’s Class of 2020 will hold a Winter Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. in the 9/10 gym. There will be vendors, games and plenty of activities. Admission is $20.

The Southern Regional Theatre Company will present “Sister Act” on Wednesday, February 28 and March 1-3  at the Joseph P. Echle Performing Arts Center in the 9/10 building. All shows will be begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults.

Southern Regional ice hockey senior Paul Keyes recently became the first player in school history to achieve 100 career points. Keyes is a three-sport athlete, participating in cross country and track and field teams as well.
