Portrait Artists: Artists who attend the weekly portrait sessions at Pine Shores Art Association host a Portrait Show in the gallery through April 20. The Manahawkin gallery is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

Sign up for a PSAA bus trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on April 18 to view the “Thomas Cole’s Journey” exhibit. Cost is $70 for members, $75 for nonmembers and includes a docent-led tour. Contact Glenys Baulderstone at g.baulderstone@gmail.com or 609-971-3396.

A new “Do Your Own Pastels” session is held Tuesdays, 7 to 9 p.m. Ongoing portrait sessions are open to all artists for a nominal model fee on Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m., and Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. On Thursday is life drawing (undraped model) from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is a “do your own thing” session; artists meet and create their own work. Afterward is “Artists Helping Artists” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; drop in with your supplies for some friendly assistance.

Tuckerton Seaport Folk Arts: The Tuckerton Seaport Folklife Center is located at the Tuckerton Seaport. Greg Melega teaches woodburning techniques on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fee is $55 for members/$65 nonmembers.

Beginning weaving is taught by Patricia Zackey on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee is $30/ $35. Learn basic concepts of warp and weft to make three beginning projects.

In the Libraries: George Rahn and Rita Allen photographs are at the Little Egg Harbor branch of the Ocean County Library for the months of March and April.

Pine Shores Art Association artists Tom Troyano, Dorothy Siclare, Julianna Costa, Kathy Crocker and Nancy McCormick will exhibit at the Stafford branch through April.

The next Art Chat is at the Tuckerton branch on Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m. Artists bring work to be critiqued or just to share. Free.

Ceramics at LBIF: The ceramics studio at the LBI Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies has reopened after renovations that included updating equipment and expanding classroom space. Weekly Saturday Drop-In Ceramics with Dallas Koenig continues, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn to make ceramics or practice your skill for a fee of $35, or paint fired bisque-ware for a fee of $15 plus cost of piece.

High Bar Harbor artist Linda Ramsay welcomes artists to drop in and paint on alternate Tuesdays;10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a $25 fee. The next session is Tuesday, April 10. Register at the LBIF desk. Easels and glass palettes are provided.

Life Drawing: Join other local artists for life drawing sessions at the Old Baptist Church in Manahawkin on Sunday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. Study the undraped figure in a historic setting, with plenty of natural light and a creative and experienced fine art model. No instruction is offered; bring your own art supplies.

There will be a model fee collection.

Seniors Wanted: The 42nd annual Ocean County Senior Art Exhibit is looking for entries. Professional and nonprofessional artists, 60 years of age or older, who are residents of Ocean County are eligible to submit artwork in one of 11 categories. Artwork will be received only on Wednesday, June 6, between 9 a.m. and noon in the lobby of the Grunin Center for the Arts (Building #12) on the Ocean County College Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River. Use Parking Lot #2.

Each artist may submit only one entry. Artwork must be original work by the exhibiting artist, created within the past three years, and not entered in prior County Senior Art Shows or in the New Jersey State Senior Art Show. Reproduction of the artist’s work including giclée or other digital copies of original paintings or mixed media work will not be accepted.
