Art at the Arlington to Benefit The Lotus Project

Nov 15, 2017

A special event this Thursday evening brings together the spirit of giving, social festivity, support for local artists and compassion for those affected by substance abuse.

Art at the Arlington, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Arlington in Ship Bottom, is the first silent auction fundraiser of its kind to benefit The Lotus Project, a nonprofit organization with a mission “to offer a voice through art expression for individuals loving a person struggling with substance use disorder.” Admission is free. All proceeds from the auction will benefit workshops and special meetups in the Southern Regional and Pinelands Regional school districts.

Through workshops, classes and other activities, The Lotus Project provides a safe space in which to find comfort, self-care and empowerment. Workshops are free for all individuals aligning with the objectives of the mission and are possible with the help of volunteers, private donations and fundraising events such as Art at the Arlington.

Fifteen local artists have donated artwork (with pieces including photography, ceramics, glass, acrylics, mixed media collage, reclaimed wood, fiber, and jewelry) for the event. Artwork and gift baskets filled with theater tickets, craft beer, wellness, art workshops and local eateries will be silently auctioned throughout the evening. Guests can enjoy live music courtesy of Sahara Moon and duo Matt Rott and Lindsey Tallman, as well as fresh baked goods, happy hour and pizza night specials at the bar.

Participating artists include Calla Aniski, Perchal Fibers; Erin Daniels, Erin Daniels Art + Design; Jeannine Errico; Victoria Ford; Nikki Leah, Nikki Leah Designs; Greg Molyneux, Greg Molyneux Photography; Lydia Owens; Colleen Panetta; Jeff Ruemeli; Dawn Simon; Terence Smith, Garden State Surf + Art; Cristian Spada, Favor House Atlantic; Cheryl Syminink, The C-Glass Studio; Matt Bokey; and Erin Buterick, Clayhouse.  —V.F.
