An Ashley HomeStore is slated to open this spring in the retail space formerly occupied by A.C. Moore in the Stafford Square shopping center, Manahawkin. A May 1 opening date is targeted for the furniture retailer. The space in the shopping center at 297 Route 72 East is approximately 20,000 square feet.

The Manahawkin store will be the fourth Ashley HomeStore location for licensee DBERG, LLC, which also operates stores in Ledgewood, Phillipsburg and Toms River. DBERG President Barry DiMaio told The SandPaper Stafford Township was chosen for its promising demand and demographics.

“We have our store in Toms River, and we saw a tremendous amount of people driving from Manahawkin to Toms River.”

The Stafford Square site is expected to employ about 15 or 16 staff. A banner will be up next week at the store carrying information for applicants, DiMaio said.

The exact date of opening is not confirmed, pending final details. “It’s a little early in the year, but our goal is May 1,” DiMaio said. “It all depends on getting the job done as quickly as possible.”

DBERG is leasing the building from Pasbjerg Development Co., which owns the shopping center. Each Ashley HomeStore retail furniture store and retailer is independently owned and operated.

“We’re very excited,” DiMaio concluded. “We want to be a great member of the community, and we will support numerous causes when we get in there.”

DiMaio said the Manahawkin store will strictly carry Ashley Furniture, and added, “We supply great customer service at great prices.”

Ashley HomeStore is an American chain that sells Ashley Furniture products. It is the number one retailer of furniture in North America, with 800 locations worldwide, according to its website. —M.S.
