Barnegat Cub Scouts Collect Food, Clothes, Toys in Holiday Drive

Nov 15, 2017

Barnegat Township Cub Scout Pack 26 is gearing up for its third annual  “Giving Back for the Holidays” program. On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19,  the pack will participate in “Scouting 4 Food” at the Four Seasons at Mirage community. Donations of nonperishable food items will be given to the Barnegat Food Pantry.

“The residents have always been more than gracious over the years with helping with our mission of stopping hunger in Barnegat,” said Erica Capro, pack committee chairperson. “Many times we’ve gone to the food pantry, and the shelves are getting bare. We need to help them replenish, especially with the holidays coming.”

Beginning Monday, Nov. 20, through Friday, Dec. 1, the pack will be collecting lightly worn clothing. Jeans, coats, jackets, belts, pocketbooks, shoes, boots, blankets, sheets, towels, sleeping bags and stuffed animals are among the accepted items. From Monday, Dec. 4, through Friday, Dec. 22, lightly used toys will be collected. Capro said all donations will be gathered at her home at 27 Mutineer Drive.

“We’re hoping our community can make the holidays a little easier for families in need for the holidays,” she said.

In addition, the pack is holding a holiday wreath fundraiser. Prices are $12, $15 and $20. Special customized wreaths are available at prices starting at $22. Swags and grave blankets can be ordered upon request. Orders can be placed through Debbie Merril at 732-740-6464.
