Barnegat Democrats Holding Blood Donor Drive Oct. 9

Oct 04, 2017

The Barnegat Township Democratic Club and Municipal Committee hopes to aid the American Red Cross by sponsoring a blood drive on Monday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Barnegat Recreation Center, located in the municipal complex at 900 West Bay Ave.

“In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting last weekend, donating blood has become even more essential and immediate,” said Marianne Clemente, chairman of the Barnegat Democratic Municipal Committee and vice president of the Democratic Club. “Blood has been sent to Las Vegas from all over the country, so our local blood supply is being depleted and needs to be replenished. We hope people find it in their hearts to save a life, in fact save multiple lives, since a pint of your blood can be used for several purposes and save three to four lives.”

According to the Red Cross,  prospective blood donors must be in good health, be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds. Prior to the donation, they will be asked questions about their medical history, and also have temperature, pulse and blood pressure checked

To schedule an appointment, register online at redcrossblood.org. For information, call Marianne Clemente at 212-249-6292. —E.E.
