Barnegat Drive-in Movie at the Dock on Oct. 28

Oct 04, 2017

A form of entertainment that has fallen by the wayside is the drive-in movie. But the Barnegat Township Recreation Department is bringing it back free of charge for a night on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. at the township dock.

The feature film is “Hocus Pocus,” a 1993 comedy horror fantasy directed by Keny Ortega, and starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker. The movie follows the villainous trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a male teenager in Salem, Mass.

Jean Broadbent, township recreation director, said you won’t have to worry about fitting that speaker on the driver’s-side door.

“You’ll be instructed to tune in to the sound on your FM dial,“ she said.

Also unlike old drive-in movies, there won’t be a snack bar.

“You can bring your own snacks and soft drink,” she said. “But it is also a good opportunity to support our businesses in town. Maybe people would want to buy a pizza or some other food from our restaurants.”

For more information, call the recreation department at 609-698-0080, extension 122. E.E.
