Barnegat High School Choir Part of Boardwalk Hall Christmas Spectacular

Nov 22, 2017

The Barnegat High School Select Choir will be featured with numerous other artists at the Boardwalk Hall Christmas Spectacular in Atlantic City on Friday, Dec. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The concert takes place in the hall’s Adrian Phillips Theater, which has one of two large pipe organs that the Historic Organ Restoration Committee restored within the last two years.

Natalie Altonjy, choir director, said select choir is made up of 15 singers from the 40-member group, chosen for their exceptional ability. She said the choir will perform a medley from the musical “Elf” and  “Gesu Bambino,” an Italian Christmas carol composed in 1917 by Pietro Yon.

Also on the bill are Miss America 1977 Dorothy Benham, the Atlantic City Ballet and the Boys from the Boardwalk Hall.

Altonjy said the choir will also be performing “Handel’s Messiah” with the Stockton University Choir at the Borgata in Atlantic City on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.

She said the Boardwalk Hall invitation came as a result of a recent field trip.

“We got a tour of the hall and were also treated to an organ recital,” she said. “The tour guides took a liking to us and later asked if we would like to be in the concert. We feel very honored to be a part of this. It sure is going to be a busy December for us.” E.E.
