Barnegat High School Concession Stand Set to Open Friday

Oct 25, 2017

Barnegat Township School District officials will dedicate its new concession stand at the high school football field Friday, Oct. 27 at  4:45 p.m. The facility will be open in time for the Bengals (4-2) homecoming game against Lakewood (2-4), which kicks off at 7.

Lourdes LaGuardia, business administrator, said the 40- by 22-foot structure cost $690,000.

“Before this, items were sold in trailers,” she said. “Now we have a full kitchen as well as men’s and women’s restrooms, water and sewer, electricity and lighting.”

LaGuardia said the concession stand would be operated by the high school Sports Boosters Club, through policy set by the board of education. She said people would be able to purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, coffee, bottled water and soft drinks among other items.

“The stand would be open during football games,” she said. “It could be open for other events, too, but that’s something we’re still determining.”

She added, “Our high school has been in existence for more than 10 years, and most high schools have these types of concessions stands, so the time had come for us to catch up with the other districts.”  —E.E.
