Barnegat Rotary ‘Elves’ Seek Donations for Gift Drive Dec. 13

Dec 04, 2017

The Rotary Club of Barnegat is requesting monetary donations to be used for its annual Elf Program for helping needy children in the community. Working in partnership with the Barnegat High School Interact Team, the program’s aim is to supply needy families with unwrapped gifts for their children at Christmas.

The Elf Program was one of the first local initiatives formed by the organization, chartered in 2010. Bill Ridgway, club president, said the Interact Team members will go on a shopping trip at the Manahawkin Target on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Previously, shopping was done at the Kmart, but that store is now closed.

“We know that times are still tough for many people in town, so any amount will be appreciated and will be used to make a Barnegat child’s Christmas a special one,” said Ridgway.

The gifts are given to underprivileged students from all township public schools. The families are referred to the Interact team through school personnel.

Checks should be made payable to the Rotary Club of Barnegat and mailed to the club’s New Jersey Charitable Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 474, Barnegat, N.J. 08005.
