Barnegat Schools Seeking New Business Administrator

Oct 03, 2018

The Barnegat Township Board of Education will soon be setting up interviews as it looks to hire a new business administrator. Last month, Lourdes LaGuardia announced she was leaving to take the business administrator’s post for the Stafford Township School District. She had been in the Barnegat post since 2006, and prior to that had served in that capacity in Mullica Township and Ocean Gate.

Due to a 90-day departure clause in her contract with the Barnegat district, LaGuardia is tentatively scheduled to arrive in the Stafford district on Dec. 11.

Barnegat District Superintendent  Brian Latwis said that since the job opening was posted in September, 16 applicants have expressed interest.

“We’re looking for someone who has past experience as a school business administrator,” he said. “We have a big district with a $57 million budget to manage, so it’s very important to have someone who can step in and get to work right away.”

Latwis said a board committee will be formed to expedite the process. He said he would want someone hired “fairly soon” so they can prepare themselves for starting the job in December. E.E.
