Barnegat Youth Lacrosse Taking Sign-Ups

Feb 06, 2019

Barnegat Youth Lacrosse is looking for boys and girls in grades K through eight to sign up for its spring program, which begins in March.

Britney Gorgia, group secretary, said participants in grades kindergarten through two participate in an instructional program that teaches basic skills. Children in grades three to eight play in a competitive league that includes teams from other local towns. Home games are played at the recreation complex on Lower Shore Road.

“While we do have a number of kids signed up, we’re looking for more in the instructional program,” she said. “That’s where they learn the basics so they can go on to play on teams as they get older.”

Established in 2006, Barnegat Youth Lacrosse is run by a board of parent volunteers and volunteer coaches.

“We run a free clinic in the winter to encourage new players,” said Gorgia. “We also hold a summer camp for new and returning players.”
