Dana Isles and Facedown bring their gospel-themed rock and soul music to Bayside Chapel in Barnegat Township for a free concert on Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the church’s Crossroads to Recovery ministry.

The South Jersey-based band (not to be confused with the local classic rock band also known as Facedown) consists of Dana Isles, lead singer/guitarist; Tammy Vaughn, drums; Jen Baker, bass guitar; Mike Parillo, lead guitar; Gary Bailer, lead guitar; and Lois Robinson, keyboards.

Vaughn, who serves as the group manager, said the band would perform songs that “hopefully will draw people to the Lord.”

“If they already know God, then we hope to help set them free from bondage,” she said.

Most of the songs are originals written by Isles.

“Our sound is a mix of rock and soul,” said Vaughn. “We’re not like hard rock or heavy metal.”

Vaughn said she, Isles and Baker began playing together when they were college students. Years later, they would be part of a church worship team and form a group known as Broken.

“At the concert, we will also play worship music,” she said.
