Be Careful

Mar 28, 2018

To the Editor:

During the bubonic plague/black death in the Middle Ages, the people demanded that the government kill all cats and dogs, believing that they carried the disease. What happened then was that the rats multiplied unchecked and the number of deaths skyrocketed.

Let’s be careful of what we are demanding of the government now. Unanticipated consequences are just that: unpredictable.
