Beach Haven Fundraiser to Help Florida Fire Company Rebuild

Dec 11, 2017

The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co. and Auxiliary are sponsoring a “Kiddie Christmas” fundraiser on Sunday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the firehouse.

“With a donation our guests are welcome to fire truck rides and pictures with Santa,” said Melanie Markoski, auxiliary president. “We will have crafts for children under 10 and goodies for everybody to enjoy.”

She said gift cards are being collected for the fire company in Marathon,  Fla., which was affected by Hurricane Irma. The town is located in the Florida Keys, where Federal Emergency Management Agency officials said 25 percent of the homes were destroyed.

“The fire company needs aid in the rebuilding and continued cleanup,” said Markoski. “Home Depot cards were huge for us at the fire company after Superstorm Sandy. We have a member of our fire company associated with Marathon, so we are in direct contact with them and will be able to see the good this donation does for their company.”

The auxiliary is also collecting bags of canned food to help restock the food pantry at the St. Francis Center in Brant Beach.
