Barnegat Township residents and sisters Kelly Ford and Katie Davis held a grand opening Feb. 9 for their new establishment, Breakers Kitchen and Tap, at 535 Route 9 in Waretown. The 5,000-square-foot site was formerly Longshots Bar and Restaurant.

“Our focus is on fresh food and local craft beer,” said Davis. “Our menu Includes a prime bone-in pork chop, burgers, flatbreads, steaks and seafood dishes.”

Signature recipes include maple soy orange glaze wild salmon and homemade Key lime tart.

“Specialty cocktails include the Breakers Martini with Tito’s vodka, Chambord, lemon and pineapple juices,” said Davis. “Another favorite is ‘The Shipwreck,’ with spiced coconut rum, creme de banana and fresh fruit juices.”

Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight daily.

“In March we will start a brunch menu with earlier hours on weekends,” said Davis.

She said Breakers also has an area available for banquets and private parties.

“That part of the building has not been completed yet,” said Davis. “But we’re all set to go with the bar and restaurant.”

Ford said Breakers had a “soft opening” on Feb. 6.

“It gave us a few days to work out the kinks, and the grand opening went very smoothly,” she said.

People can log onto the restaurant’s website and Facebook page for updates, live music schedule, features and happenings.  E.E.
