Broadway and Disney Channel actress Brigid Harrington of Barnegat Township will appear in Eugene O’Neill’s play “Ah, Wilderness!” through Sept 2 in an East Lynne Theater Company Equity production in Cape May.

Harrington will play the role of Muriel, the love interest of the main character, Richard, in this endearing coming-of-age classic by one of America’s most influential playwrights. Richard is played by Evan Smilyk, who has acted with East Lynne since 2014.

“He’s an awesome young actor,” said Harrington. “This is going to be a great experience for me. I’ve been fortunate to have been able to work with so many great people the last few years.”

An incoming senior at Barnegat High School, Harrington is also awaiting the release of “Benji The Dove,” a feature film in which she plays Julie, another love interest, this time to Broadway’s Eli Tokash (“Finding Neverland”). The film also stars Lynn Cohen (“Hunger Games”), and was directed by Kevin Arbouet.

The Disney Channel show “Chuggington,” in which Harrington voices a lead character (Koko), has launched “Chuggington Little Trainees,” an updated version of this hit animated show (and a fresh line of toys) for a new generation of youngsters, airing daily on the Disney Channel.

Harrington has other projects in various stages of development as well, including a TV pilot sitcom with celebrities to be announced, and an educational and entertaining community outreach program within Barnegat Township.

“I want to bring the arts back to Barnegat,” she said. “I love my community and want to develop a program that could appeal to younger and older audiences.”

She is also scouring the country for the best university to advance her two passions, acting and political science.

“Two possibilities are Georgetown and (the University of) Michigan,” she said.

In 2016, during her first year at Barnegat High School, she played Wednesday in the Bengal Theater Company’s production of “The Addams Family.”

In addition, Harrington  has appeared on Broadway as Jane Banks in “Mary Poppins” and at Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theatre as Susan Waverly in “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.”

In 2015,  she won the “People’s Choice” in the New Jersey Shout-Down Drugs songwriting competition and performed her original song at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
