Jun 19, 2017

Stockton University at Manahawkin is adding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree to its programs offered right here in Southern Ocean County. Informational sessions on June 26 are open to registered nurses with an associate degree or diploma in nursing who are interested in earning their BS degree.

The free sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Manahawkin Instructional Site, 712 East Bay Ave. Attendees should arrive promptly for each session, as they are sequential in nature. Representatives from Nursing, Admissions, Financial Aid and Academic Advising will be onsite to provide information about the RN-BSN, being offered for the first time at the Manahawkin location, beginning in September.

The hybrid program, designed for working professionals, will combine online classes with a face-to-face meeting every other week on Fridays.

“National trends point toward an increasing demand for baccalaureate-prepared nurses,” said Dean Theresa Bartolotta. “The School of Health Sciences is committed to providing innovative in-demand programs that meet the health care needs of the region.”

The School of Health Sciences will be expanding further into larger facilities in 2018, another exciting advance for the Manahawkin campus, it was announced last November. The university will open a 7,915-square-foot expansion adjacent to the current location, with classroom space, teaching labs and a student lounge. The site has been occupied by Rothman Institute Orthopaedics, which will move to the new AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin Campus on Route 72 West.

Stockton’s nursing program was ranked #43 out of 450 schools considered in the MidAtlantic region by NursingSchoolsAlmanac.com. The program is approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.  —M.S.
