Cancer Benefit at Moose Lodge for Grandmother

Jun 14, 2017

Friends at the Beach Haven Moose Lodge in Manahawkin invite others to join in for a benefit on Sunday, June 25, to help a grandmother, Elva Acton, with her fight against cancer.

Music by Drunken Clams and DJ Don Cook will be a good time for guests, who can also enjoy food and beverages, including a bake sale. A Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle are part of the day.

The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Moose, 120 Route 72 West. Tickets are $25 per person, with no charge for kids age 5 and younger.

“Please come out and join us for a great time while we raise money to help Elva with her fight,” invites the club. “All proceeds will aid in Elva’s medical cost and lost income. Let’s rally together and show her she is not alone.”

Acton is a mother of four, a grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of nine, a wife, sister, friend “and all-around wonderful person.” Since 2003, she has been battling vulvar cancer, which has metastasized to her bones.

Those who cannot attend but want to support Acton may send a check to the Elva Acton Cancer Fund, TD Bank, 591 Route 72 West, Manahawkin, N.J. 08050.  —M.S.
