Stafford police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man from surveillance footage who robbed the Chase Bank on Martin Truex Jr. Boulevard in Manahawkin on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 4:15 p.m.

The unknown subject is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 225 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark zipper, dark sunglasses, light-colored jeans and dark shoes, and was eating a lollipop. He displayed no weapon, but rather handed the bank teller a handwritten note, and she then turned an as-yet-undetermined amount of money over to him.

He fled the area on foot, south from the Chase Bank toward the Aldi Food Store and BJs.

The Stafford Township Police Department’s K9 Unit and patrol officers were unable to locate the subject after a search of the surrounding area.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Stafford Police Det. Drew Smith at 609-597-1189, extension 8435, or at dsmith@staffordpolice.org.  —V.F.
