Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon

Take in the tunes of top country-Americana acts appearing at the Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College this fall and beyond. Tickets are on sale now.

Coming up later this month – at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 – Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon will perform a tribute to John Denver that “features the singer-songwriter’s most well-known hits accompanied by many of the same instruments he used,” OCC explained. “Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon have toured the country together delighting audiences with their talent, warmth and humor.”

Collins and some of the original artists of Boulder Canyon – which now features Kevin Delmolino on bass, Paul Swanton on lead guitar, Mark Nelson on percussion, Alexander Mitchell on mandolin/fiddle and Bill Powell on keyboards – met in Aspen, Colo., at an annual celebration of Denver’s life and music. “Collins and Boulder Canyon are not an impersonation act, but seek to honor John Denver’s legacy with fresh energy and musical integrity,” the college noted. “Sing along and enjoy exceptional harmonies from this talented group of musicians.”

Tickets vary from $23 to $30 based on seating area.

Later this fall, the band Home Free will present “A Country Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 21. “Home Free is bringing new music, new production, more country and holiday favorites as they return to the Grunin Center!” the college stated. “The five-man band has become known for show-stopping performances that mix its signature no-instrument, all-vocal music with quick-witted humor.

“‘A Country Christmas’ brings new music from an upcoming Christmas re-release, plus new country hits like Maren Morris’s ‘My Church,’ pop slams like Shakira’s ‘Try Everything,’ and fan favorite classics like the calypso-infused arrangement of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire.’”

Ticket prices for Home Free start at $45 and vary based on seating area. The dinner show is $79 and includes a meal provided by Caneda’s, while a “VIP Meet & Greet Ticket” is $139.

And mark your 2017 calendars: Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal take the stage April 6, followed by Jimmy Webb on April 22.
