Decline in Humanity

Aug 08, 2018

To the Editor:

Two weeks ago I sent a letter about my flip-flops being stolen. Now I feel the need to write again.

I feel you can tell most of the time full-time residents from visitors. This week on the bench at the Sixth Street beach in Surf City I picked up a dirty baby diaper. Trash cans are at the top of street and top of beach. I don’t think the person who did this will ever read The SandPaper because I don’t think whoever took my sandals has the intelligence to read.

Over the years I have been on the Island you can almost always tell where a person comes from. Most locals will look you in the eye and smile and say hello even if they don’t know you. The others avert their eyes to the ground. What a shame to see this decline in humanity.
