Dedicated Support

Sep 12, 2018

To the Editor:

On Saturday evening, Sept. 8, the New Jersey Maritime Museum held its annual fundraiser.  As it seems is often the case, we had a rainy evening, but thanks to Ocean Tents, we had the large Losberger tent, and everyone remained dry as a bone. In spite of a lighter than normal attendance, I believe that everyone had a great time.

The theme of this year’s event was “WWI and Its Impact on the Jersey Shore.” A special thanks to Jeff Brown for turning out in his Doughboy uniform, and speaking to our guests about New Jersey and World War I.

I’d like to extend our gratitude to all of our volunteers and trustees who worked so hard to ensure that all went as planned. There are too many to name individually, but you know who you are. Okie and his crew at Okie’s Butcher Shop came through once again and provided some great food.  DJ Troy Sarlo once again volunteered his services to provide music throughout the evening.

As always, our business community and other folks came through in a big way to ensure that our Chinese Auction and Silent Auction are the envy of fundraisers everywhere. We are truly humbled by your generosity.

None of this would be possible without the tireless work of our president, Deb Whitcraft! This is a huge undertaking and would not be remotely possible without her leadership.

Last, but hardly least, I’d like to thank all of those hardy souls who always come out to support us, no matter what the weather. We really appreciate your dedication to this event, and to the museum. Without you, none of this would be possible.
