Southern Ocean Rotary and AtlantiCare Make Gift
Dec 06, 2017

Three new automated external defibrillators have been placed in Stafford Township, thanks to the Southern Ocean Rotary Club and AtlantiCare. On Nov. 29 the donation was made for one unit to be placed in the Bay Avenue Community Center at 775 East Bay Ave.; the other two will go in township police vehicles.

AtlantiCare has a matching program, and Southern Ocean Rotary funded the matching portion for each AED, said Cynthia Meli, president of Southern Ocean Rotary.

Each AED costs $1,400, so in total, the donation of $4,200 worth of equipment was split between Southern Ocean Rotary and AtlantiCare, paying $2,100 each.

Stafford Township Mayor John Spodofora and Police Chief Thomas Dellane accepted the donation of the AEDs at the presentation also attended by community center staff, AtlantiCare staff and Rotarians.  —M.S.
