Dog Warnings

Nov 22, 2017

To the Editor:

Following up on the letters to the editor these past weeks in regard to unleashed dogs on the beaches so prevalent these last few months, I offer my experience. In my numerous encounters with such dogs and their owners, I have had little success in reiterating the dog laws but have had 100 percent response from the Ship Bottom police when I call them on the non-emergency number, 609-494-1518. They arrive at the beach in a few minutes and issue warnings and citations to the offending owners.

I suggest that walkers carry their cell phones with the appropriate contact for their municipality, and use them in these scary situations. In addition, I carry a big stick (cane) in order to whack any dog that runs to me.

Walk safely.
