Dorothy Siclare Exhibit at Barnegat Library

Sep 05, 2018

The work of Waretown artist Dorothy Siclare, an oil painter who focuses on figurative and portrait work, will be on display at the Barnegat branch of the Ocean County Library throughout the month of September.

Siclare has always had her hand in the artistic process since she was a child. Born in New York, she worked as an interior designer for 20 years. She has won many awards and has showcased her work in group and solo shows. She studied portrait painting for six years at the Center for Visual Arts in New Jersey and continues her art education, taking classes with a diverse group of artists offering classes and workshops in oil and pastel painting.

“I paint what I love and am attracted to,” she said. “My artistic idols are Sargent, Cassat, Degas and  Zorn; they inspire me. Although truthful depictions are my main goal, it is also important that you sense the soul in my subjects. I have been told that I do just that. I have been blessed with many successful paintings and happy clients; I can’t think of a better reward.”
