Douglas Brunt Discusses Trophy Son at Beach Haven Library July 24

Jul 17, 2017

Author Douglas Brunt will discuss his latest work, Trophy Son, at the Beach Haven Public Library on Monday, July 24, at 10 a.m. His third novel tells a compelling, provocative story about a father, his son, and the cost of early excellence in our achievement-obsessed society. Tennis prodigy Anton Stratis experienced an isolated childhood of grueling practice under the eye of his obsessed father, and then dramatically rose through the intensely competitive world of professional tennis.

Brunt will also sign copies of his book; proceeds from any purchased that day will go to the library.

He is also author of The Means, which follows two complicated presidential candidates and the equally ambitious rising-star journalist who is learning what it takes to get the story right. Brunt’s first novel, Ghosts of Manhattan, was about freewheeling Wall Street bond traders in their pre-collapse heyday.

The 45-year-old author began his professional career as a management consultant. He later became president and CEO of Athenium Inc., a private security firm. He left the company in 2011 to devote his time to writing.

Brunt is married to Megyn Kelly, a journalist and attorney who served as a commentator on the Fox News Channel before joining NBC News this year. She hosts Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly.
