Edwards Twins Concerts at Surfight Selling Quickly

Jul 11, 2018

The Edwards Twins will perform two shows at Beach Haven’s Surflight Theatre at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, July 23.

Tickets are $37.50 and may be purchased online at surflight.org, by phone at 609-492-9477 or at the box office.

Tickets are selling briskly, and it is no wonder people are snapping them up as quickly as a seagull snatching bread crumbs tossed into the air. The Edwards Twins, whose show is titled “An Evening With Cher, Elton, Bette Midler and Streisand,” are an incredible act.

Don’t take our word for it. NBC’s “Today Show” called it “one of the most extraordinary shows we have ever seen.”

The twins, Eddie and Anthony, aren’t simply celebrity impersonators. They are regular chameleons! With Anthony usually playing the males and Anthony tackling the females and their multiple steamer trunks’ worth of makeup, wigs and costumes, they can impersonate over 100 celebs including Sonny Bono, Cher, Billy Joel, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, Andrea Bocelli and Tom Jones.

Eddie and Anthony don’t just look their parts but sing them, perfectly, as well.

They had what turned out to be the good fortune of being born in Burbank, Calif. Living near the famous NBC TV studios, they’d sneak into the taping of shows and then run home, mimicking the stars they had seen.

Eddie had his eyes on a show biz career from the very start. Anthony, on the other hand, was conflicted. He earned a degree in music from the California Institute of the Arts but also graduated from the Sand Diego Police Academy. He was ready for a career in law enforcement when Eddie appeared on “The Carol Burnett Show.” Burnett advised them to join together to do an act, doubling the amount of celebrities they could imitate. The brothers took her advice and haven’t looked back.

“These guys are dynamite entertainers!” wrote Alex Tresniowski of People Magazine. “To witness one artist create such magic is amazing enough, but to see two of then do it is quite simply a miracle.”

“Anthony and Eddie Edwards, with no lip-syncing, no electronic trickery, and nothing to fall back on but their incredible talent, can replicate flawlessly the voices and mannerisms of well over 100 singers of both genders,” wrote John Marquis of USA Today.

No wonder tickets are going fast!  —R.M.
