The Eric Mintel Jazz Group performs music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” along with other holiday favorites on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City.

The soundtrack to “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which debuted on TV in December 1965, is a mix of traditional Christmas music and jazz. The jazz portions were created by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, who in the early 1960s had a hit with “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.”

One of the most recognizable tunes from the soundtrack is the instrumental “Linus and Lucy,” structured similarly to “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.” Guaraldi also composed another sound track favorite, “Christmas Time Is Here.”

Mintel’s career highlights include performances at the White House and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. He has been featured on Marian McPartland’s award-winning “Piano Jazz” program on NPR, and his music is heard regularly on XM and Sirius radio.

To register for the program, call the branch at 609-494-2480. E.E.
