Hosted By Southern Ocean Chamber and LBI Health Department
Feb 07, 2018

A Food Allergy Information Seminar for businesses, held at the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce building in Ship Bottom, will discuss accommodating retail guests who have food allergies. The free seminar, on March 5, is open to retail food operators, chefs and staff. The Long Beach Island Health Department will present the information.

Attendees must pre-register through the chamber of commerce (see details below) for the event, which begins at 8:45 a.m.

“The instructional session is to improve understanding of food allergies and anaphylaxis. It will highlight laws that protect individuals with food allergies, as well as identify ways to improve safety of food service to those patrons,” says the seminar summary.

The two-to-three-hour session will teach food handling procedures to ensure safe delivery of meals to diners with food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities, including gluten intolerance and celiac disease.

Space is limited, so priority will be given to members of the Southern Ocean County Chamber who operate in the food service industry.

To register, call 609-494-7211 or email info@sochamber.com. The class will be held in the second-floor conference center of the chamber, at 265 West Ninth St.

The event was coordinated as part of the chamber’s Open for Business program, with partner Panzone’s Restaurants.  —M.S.
